Description

Sacred Biography is an amazing work and is said to be a translation of some of Saurin’s work. It stands as a classic in oratory and devotional literature. The unique ability to tie chains of verses together makes it a beautiful array of colorful and spiritual meaning. His direct applications at the end of each lecture, drives the point to a very practical and meaningful conclusion.

This stands as an example of what is missing in today’s Bible schools. A study of material should be presented in a similar style so that the student increases in the knowledge of God and Scripture and grows in a practical application of the learning in daily living.

Every family member has something to learn from this work. Women are treated with great respect and volume 6 is devoted in honor to them. Volume 7 deals with the character of the Lord Jesus. The early volumes are about the patriarchs, from Adam to Moses. As Henry Hunter states in the opening lecture, fiction has no comparison to the value of a biography of a person given to us by God. God is completely honest about the person and tells us what is important to know. He does not hide the truth from us, but offers them as an example of His perspective about those who become His children.

In essence, avoiding the biographical sketches of those in Scripture is paramount to divorcing ourselves from God’s family and fellowship. Apart from Bible reading alone, this work is a wonderful way to assist in spiritual consideration of our brothers and co-laborers in the Lord.
