Originally this book was entitled: A Spiritual Clinique.

While there are exciting conferences and literature that excite a Christian into wanting to begin living spiritually, there are real problems that Christians face that keep them from entering this area of spiritual growth. To overcome these problems, A.T. Pierson takes examples of those who came to him for help and organizes them into four treatment categories. These areas are carefully explained in a helpful and encouraging way as would be found in a medical clinic, if they were a physical ailment.

The first chapter is about unsubdued sin in a person’s life. As long as there is a known sin that is not abandoned and rejected with all sincerity, it sits and reigns over a person, and God is refused entrance into his heart.

The second chapter is about unanswered prayer. There are many hindrances to prayer and Dr. Pierson provides 12 levels of prayer answers and the conditions that lead to the answer level.

The third chapter is on persistent darkness. There are Christians that sit in darkness, no matter what their efforts, and want to be free. The Bible defines and explains the darkness. It also tells how to remove the darkness. This chapter is of vital importance in this dark infested world of sin.

The fourth chapter is the most important, and discusses unbelief. This is the center of all problems of stunted spiritual growth. It also is the most persistent and dangerous form of idolatry. It should be required reading by all Christians!
